Personal Narrative

State Tournament

As I wake up to a cool, chilly, morning I get ready to head to my hockey game. I was playing hockey at a tournament. This tournament was very big. This is State. The biggest tournament of club hockey. We had won all of our games going into the championship game.

We take the ice and start our warm-up routine. The ref dropped the puck, and we knew it was good competition. This game went on for a while until they scored a goal with five minutes left. The score was 1-0 after the first period.

The second period started and we scored two minutes into the period. Our team is disappointed as the score is a tie. Then with not much time in the period someone was hurt. The crowd goes silent as a kid lays on the ice. A kid on my team hit him in the neck with a stick. He got a penalty which then lead to a left goal for the other team. They are up 2-1. This period ends as we played horrible. Our coach has a little talk with us and he says we need to score more. I was thinking in my head, "Yeah everyone knows that so why don’t you tell us what were doing bad."

The last period started and they score right away, two minutes into the period. This period is not going well and our team is upset. Our team is starting to give up. Then we took control of the game with two goals to tie the game up. The crowd was shocked just as much as the other team. The buzzer sounded again as the last period is over and we head to overtime.

These rules for overtime are kind of confusing. They're are only 4 people on the ice at once and the period lasts for five minutes. Everyone on the bench is so nervous. I can barely breath I'm so nervous. Then after three long nerve wrecking minutes I score the game winning goal! On a power play. We won as the final score was 4-3. Our team jumps on the ice, we're all jumping on each other, talking each other as we receive the great trophy
